When Did You First Gamble?

Gambling is often thought of as an adult behaviour but think back to the first time you ever made a bet amongst your friends or on your own, what is it really as an adult? When you were 5 years old on the school playground with your friends, did you ever dare each other to eat the earth worm in return for all their candy? When you were a slothful teenager who was too lazy to get off the couch when your mom asked you to feed the dogs, did you play rock, paper and scissors against your siblings to see who would have to get up and do the dirty work? Maybe it was only yesterday while you were waiting for you e-mails to download so you quickly logged on to play at an online casino and have a quick hand in blackjack.

Gambling is the wagering of money or of something that has value with an uncertain outcome usually within a short period of time, as with life there is no certain outcome or time. We all, regardless how old or young at some point in life has gambled. Do you remember the raffle draw at school for $1 whereby you had to guess the amount of jelly beans in the jar and if you were right you would win the whole jar? What about the time you received an A for your history assignment or the gold medal you won for coming first in your swimming race?

We have been gambling since we were able to understand the concept of winning and losing. No one likes to lose and everyone wants to win but the odds are you can't always win. That is what gambling is, looking for that satisfaction of winning.

Commonly known types of gambling are online casinos, table games and card games or slots machines. In hind sight majority of games that you have either played or watched in your life there is always a winner or loser.

People can tell you they have never gambled but then they would be lying. It is all a gamble, in everyday life we take a gamble whether it is tangible or not. Often we do it for fun sometimes for self-improvement but generally it is all about "the stakes" and the thrill of the risk in hoping for the win. Everybody wants to win no matter how young or old you are.
