Why Are Online Casinos Regarded as Adult Content? [article from Articleranks]

Why Are Online Casinos Regarded as Adult Content?

Labeling specific website content as Adult Content always gives products a bad name. In general, the term 'adult content' has a massive negative connotation. A clear example of other adult content that has a number of negative connotations, other than online casino gaming, is pornography. Why is it then, that both Google and other leading search engines enter all 'adult content' under the same broad umbrella surely the term 'adult content' can further be subdivided to prevent people from generalizing and misconceiving what the online casino industry is really all about?

I have put together a few points that argue against generalizations on the internet through the example of online gambling and pornography; after all, other generalizations outside cyberspace are almost always frowned upon, which begs the question: why shouldn't internet generalizations be frowned upon too?

Online casinos are meticulous

When a player decides to play at an online casino, he or she needs to go through quite a tedious registration process, which asks the player to supply casino officials with a wad of personal information before any real money deposits are made. Real money deposits are always completed with the aid of credit cards and web wallets, further making the task near impossible for underage individuals.

On the other hand, there is simply no way for the sustainability of such processes in online pornography. If an individual desires to watch pornography, no one can ever decline or approve the application; all that pornography users need to do is click on the 'Yes, I am over 18 button,' and that's where all pre-screening seizes to exist. Why then is online gambling classified in the same category as pornography?

Online casinos are regulated

Internal regulation is just the first step in dealing with underage gambling. Online casinos are also very much subordinate to external regulatory bodies that act as hawk eyes over the dealings of each registered online casino brand. Online casinos have essentially become extremely paranoid for having their licenses declined on the basis of underage participation; they will do anything in their power to eliminate underage gaming. Again, on the other hand, pornography is essentially completely unregulated in any practical sense.

The reason for inane classifications

Since the beginning of online gambling, censors, together with governments, have tried their best to get their hands on a piece of the pie. It is also no secret that online gambling brands and governments haven't been the best of pals: gambling institutions don't see why they should pay governments astronomical taxes as far as they are concerned, this type of taxation is akin to racketeering on the highest of levels. Concurrently, governments are succeeding in giving online gambling a bad a name in a similar fashion to that of alcohol during the prohibition. In essence, they hide behind family or Christian values to prescribe maxims of 'good' or 'bad' to society. Meanwhile, their motives are sinister and highly ulterior: to gain funds in the billions without doing anything for it.

There is really no argument why pornography and online gambling should be classified in the same group; this sort of classification is similar to a taxonomist grouping salmon and bears in the same genus. The simple truth is that online gambling is solely enjoyed by adults, whilst pornography is viewed by children as young as 5. If there is a category that online gambling should belong to, it is 'online gambling.' In the same vein 'pornography' should be classified as 'pornography' and not under any other grouping.

It seems like the term 'adult content' has become the Naughty Corner where participant who cannot be reigned upon are sent to think about what they have done wrong.
