Are Roulette Systems All That Bad?
Even though you've probably read about lots of winning roulette systems online, the most likely way of making money from roulette is by owning a casino. Every roulette system uses little snippets of mathematics to prove they work, whilst ignoring the maths that proves they don't. These systems are especially dangerous now that we are able to play roulette online in the comfort of our own houses.
But also there is a danger of over maligning these systems, and I'll tell you why. Martingale is the most popular system and it won't make you rich but it could have better results than some players manage. Have you ever like me sat at a roulette table either virtual or real and watched people shower the table with random chips. In many cases they are actually minimising their chances of winning. Nobody wants to reduce a fun game to simply a reptitive task of placing the best roulette bet over and over again, unfortunately the majority of these people will never win!
Following a system will not ensure you leave the casino with a big grin and a bigger pile of cash. But conversely following these systems doesn't mean that you definitely won't win either. You could argue that using a roulette system actually does enforce some discipline into your play.
The problems I have with these systems are twofold - first they are just plain dull. Sticking to some rigid system can make the actual game rather dull to be honest. The biggest concern with them is that they change the players expectation of the game. This false idea that you just can't lose is a very dangerous one to have in a casino.
In a perfect world you actually couldn't lose using Martingale for instance, but in the real world you'll be stopped by the house limit or decide not to place a 30000 dollar bet to make an overall profit of 5 dollars. The real world is where we do our gambling and that is ultimately the problem with Martingale and the majority of the systems.
